Pancreatitis diet no- no’s or acute pancreatitis triggers are anything proven to lead to acute pancreatitis but in this post we are dealing with what goes into your mouth via your pancreatitis diet. The acute pancreatitis triggers found in a poorly planned pancreatitis diet consist of two things: Those two triggers are OUT when it comes to a pancreatitis diet. We have already discussed alcohol and why you should never allow it in your mouth so I am not going to belabor the subject except to say it is never to be allowed in your pancreatitis diet. If you are a steak and bacon lover like I was adhering to a pancreatitis diet is not going to be an enjoyable experience for a while. But the good news is, after a while it gets easier. You will become used to going without certain foods and cooking in certain ways in return for feeling like a half- way well human being. If you enjoy pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and possible pancreatic necrosis, cysts, hemorrhage and death by all means disregard anything I am telling you. Afterall, it is your life. What Are Safe Foods For A Pancreatitis Diet? When you think about solid food for your pancreatitis diet when you are NOT yet healed, think VEGAN until you no longer have pain. In fact I suggest a modified VEGAN diet (no meat, no dairy, no oil or fat) for 6 months or until you are healed enough to where you have ZERO symptoms. Once you no longer have symptoms (pain, nausea) you can begin to add in safe protein sources such as poultry and white meat fish. Safe foods for a pancreatitis diet are few but include the following: Fish (white meat fish such as cod, halibut, bass, crappie, pollack, orange roughy, talapia, catfish)Seafood (lobster, shrimp, crab, scallops, clams etc)Poultry (skinless chicken, turkey, grouse, pheasant, quail)Egg whites (4 grams of protein per egg white, ZERO fat)Legumes (beans, lentils, peas)Vegetables (all kinds – leafy greens, tubers and cruciferous)Fruits (all kinds EXCEPT avocado and coconut)Whole grains (wheat, barley, oats, rice etc)Spices (especially good are cayenne, garlic, turmeric, black pepper, ginger because all are anti- inflammatory)If you are in pain (you haven’t healed) the above meat protein sources may also contain too much fat so tread carefully. When choosing from the above safe foods for your pancreatitis diet try to go organic to avoid GMO’s, chemical pesticides and other unwanted additives. You can buy organically raised poultry and wild fish. Both are harder to find and more expensive but in my opinion worth it. More Pancreatitis Diet Tips. There are several different kinds of fat. It is totally different from fats found in vegetables and fruit. Meat and dairy fat, saturated fat, is the most detrimental to the pancreas when one has chronic pancreatitis and that is why they don’t work in a pancreatitis diet. Monounsaturated fat is found in olive oil, nuts and cooking oil. Yes nuts are extremely good for health but maybe not yours, especially in any. IF you are NOT healed avoid these fats. This is going to be a wishy- washy answer because you may be able to tolerate less than me or more than me depending on your amount of damage. After years on MY pancreatitis diet and the supplements I became able to eat almost constantly without any ill effects as long as I did not eat anything that was not on the list. Heck, I felt grrrrreeeaat again! Life is great!”So I quit the supplements. Bad choice. The bad decision to stop taking. It is an experience I really don’t care to remember well enough to correctly date it. It lasted for over 1. Recovery took another 2 – 3 weeks. I still felt like death warmed over but I dragged my ass out of bed, got dressed and . I’d have done that sooner but I was too sick to drive. Expert Fat Loss Guide: Learn How To Lose Fat. Too many people view fat loss like it is a secret VIP party that requires you to do or say the right thing to get invited. In one sense this is true. Those that are lean understand what must be done to lose fat without gimmicks or quick fixes. Fat loss is a biological process that does not need to be shrouded in mystery. It is not as easy as some of the gimmicks would have you believe but an understanding of the processes that lead to fat loss will allow you to make the correct decisions to get you where you want to be. This guide contains everything you need to achieve real, dependable fat loss. There are no quick fixes here. This is only for those that are willing to put in the work and reap the benefits of that work. So read up, because this is your formal invitation to the party. Setting Goals. Before you even get started on a fat loss plan the first thing you want to do is to set goals for yourself. This goal could be to lose 3. Whether your goal is to lose a certain number of pounds or to just achieve a certain look you will need to set a reasonable time frame to achieve this. If you do not set a time frame there will be no sense of urgency when trying to make progress. Rate of Progress. When it comes to the rate at which progress can be made fat loss is far different from muscle growth. Whereas building muscle is a slow process, fat loss can take place at a pretty rapid pace. We have all seen the commercials that promise to help you lose 1. While it is entirely possible to lose huge amounts of weight in short periods of time, this is not what we are aiming for. Losing weight too quickly will lead to muscle loss. Losing muscle on a fat loss plan will only result in a lower metabolism, a less attractive physique, compromised health, and ultimately a higher chance that the weight lost will be put back on. On any fat loss plan you should strive to lose 1- 2 lbs. This rate of loss will ensure that all weight losses will be fat and not muscle tissue. This will also make sure that progress will continue without a metabolism stall. Individualized Approach. One common theme you will see as you read this guide is that fat loss is best maximized with an individual approach. To get the best possible results a cookie cutter plan will not do. Many things must be taken into account when putting together an effective plan. This guide will show you how to make adjustments based on your individual body type. Definitions and Common Terms. Calories - Calories are a unit of measurement used to describe how much energy value is in food. Excess calories that are not used as energy are stored as fatty tissue within the body. Micronutrients - Micronutrients are nutrients that the body only needs in trace amounts. Examples of micronutrients are most vitamins and minerals. Amino Acids - Amino acids are the compounds that make up proteins. They are commonly referred to as the building blocks of protein. Different types of proteins vary in the types and amounts of amino acids that they contain. Glycogen - Glycogen is carbohydrate stored within the human body. When carbohydrates are ingested they are stored within muscle tissue and liver as glycogen. Glycogen is a primary energy source for the body. Metabolic Rate - Metabolic rate refers to the rate at which a person's body uses energy. A higher metabolic rate will use energy more quickly, leading to a leaner physique. Protein Synthesis - The process through which amino acids are arranged into proteins. Protein synthesis is the process of muscle growth. Anabolic (Anabolism) - Anabolic is the state of muscle growth. If you are building muscle you are in an anabolic state. Catabolic (Catabolism) - Catabolic is the state of muscle breakdown. If you are losing muscle you are in a catabolic state. Aerobic - Aerobic exercise is exercise that requires the presence of oxygen. Anaerobic - Anaerobic exercise is exercise that does not require the presence of oxygen. Substrate - A substrate is any material or substance upon which an enzyme acts. Determining Your Body Type. Role of Body Type in Fat Loss. When trying to lose fat body type is very important to both diet and training. Different body types will require varying levels of calories, macronutrients, and training volumes. Before you can determine how much to eat and how much to train you must know your body type. Image courtesy of Govt. Ectomorphs (or ectos for short) are categorized by one word, THIN. The bone structure of an ectomorph is very narrow. This means that ectos usually have a small rib cage, narrow shoulders, and long thinner limbs. An ectomorph will struggle to add both muscle and fat, so adding body weight is usually a slow process. Even though ectomorphs will have difficulty getting bigger and stronger their typically fast metabolisms give them a huge advantage when trying to get lean. When trying to get lean muscle loss will always be a concern for the ectomorph. Mesomorph. Mesomorphs (or mesos for short) are the genetic lottery winners. They are typically athletic looking even with little to no training. Mesomorphs usually have wide shoulders and somewhat thinner waists. One of the main characteristics of a mesomorph is that they add muscle AND lose fat easily. Although mesomorphs have genetic advantages they are not immune to getting out of shape. If they wish to maintain or improve their physiques, a proper training routine and diet must be employed. Endomorph. Endomorphs (or endos for short) are somewhat the opposite of an ectomorph. They have a wide bone structure. This means that an endo’s rib cage, shoulders, and waist are usually wide. An endomorph will gain both muscle and fat very easily. Because of this most endomorphs struggle to maintain a lean physique. Although it is harder for an endomorph to get lean, it is not impossible. Also, their body’s ability to add and maintain muscle tissue gives them a big advantage when losing fat. Calories and the Macronutrients. The three macronutrients are protein, carbohydrates, and fat. Get to know them well. The ins and outs of these nutrients are vital to losing fat. Each of these serves a particular function within the body, so it is essential that they be supplied in the correct amounts. Body type also plays a huge role in how your body reacts to these nutrients as well. Different body types will have different recommendations for each nutrient and calorie intake. Calories. Most people are familiar with calories but few know exactly what they are. Calories are units of measure assigned to foods to show how much energy it contains. Your body expends a certain number of calories as energy everyday. If you consume more calories than you expend, the excess will be stored as body fat. If you consume less than you expend everyday your body will have to use stored body fat to meet energy needs. Proteins, fats, and carbohydrates all have calories. One gram of protein contains 4 calories, one gram of fat contains 9 calories, and one gram of carbohydrate contains 4 calories. These are the calorie recommendations based on each particular body type. Ectomorph - Body weight x 1. Mesomorph - Body weight x 1. Endomorph - Body weight x 1. This is not the whole story though. Not all calories are created equal. Calories consumed from protein, carbs, and fat will not all be processed the same way within the body. Keep reading to find out why. Protein. Proteins are unbelievably important molecules to the human body. Different proteins have different functions depending on the type. Some are used as contractile proteins which allow muscles to contract and lift weight. Other proteins are enzymes that cause chemical reactions within the body, and some proteins can be used for energy. On any fat loss plan protein is absolutely essential to maintaining muscle tissue. When protein is ingested the body breaks it down into amino acids and sends it into the bloodstream. Once these amino acids are in the bloodstream they will be taken up by cells within the body. The body prefers to use protein for storage as muscle tissue rather than to use it for energy. Proteins can be broken down and used for energy if the body needs it though. This process of synthesizing glucose is called glucogenesis. Glucogenesis as a result of protein breakdown is not preferred when trying to maintain muscle mass. Not only does this process result in the breakdown of muscle tissue but protein also yields less energy per unit than carbohydrates or fat. So protein is best used as a substrate or building block of sorts, rather than being used for energy. Fat is the most energy dense nutrient. Whereas protein and carbs both contain 4 calories per gram, fat contains 9 calories per gram. The downside to fat is that it is easily stored as adipose tissue (fat). An important function of fat is its role in the production of testosterone. One thing must be understood about a fat loss diet: testosterone will be lower when calories are restricted. This is just a natural response. The body senses that energy is in short supply and decides that less energy can be “spent” on muscle growth. Fat acids are a substrate for cholesterol, meaning that fatty acids must be available to create cholesterol. This is important because cholesterol is eventually converted to testosterone. If fat intake is too low there will not be enough fatty acids available for optimal testosterone productions. This will lead to an even lower level of testosterone. When on a diet, fats do not serve as many functions as protein and carbs once a certain intake is reached. Since fats are much more calorie dense than protein and carbs they also are the easiest choice to cut once it is time to get serious about fat loss. The important thing is to cut fat intake when attempting to lean out, at the same time making sure daily intake does not drop so low that testosterone levels are negatively affected. Glucose is a primary energy source that fuels the brain, muscle tissue, and organs. The Ultimate Female Training Guide: Specific, Proven Methods to Get Lean And Sexy. The primary concern women have when it comes to weight training is, . Normal testosterone levels in men are 2. Even if a man is at the LOW end of the men. If we look at the median or mid- range testosterone levels in men and women, men = 7. So on an average, men have 1. It is clear that women do not have the hormonal support (testosterone) to gain muscle mass like men. Therefore, the fear of becoming big and bulky and looking like Arnold Schwarzenegger with a ponytail is unwarranted. What about the female bodybuilders? Now you may be saying, . When women use exogenous testosterone/steroids they may show signs of hair growth on the face and chest, increased muscle mass, a redistribution of body fat from a female pattern of storage to a male pattern of storage, deepening of the voice, and other effects. The point of saying this is that unless you are on exogenous testosterone or other anabolic steroids, you will not become big and bulky from lifting weights. This is not to say that you will not gain any muscle, you will, but you will not gain muscle like a man. Instead, you will become toned and shapely. Research & Studies. Studies have shown that men and women do not need to train differently. If you are a woman and want to gain muscle and improve your shape and curves, then you are going to have to lift heavy weights. This means that instead doing endless reps with light weights, as the media often prescribes women to do, you need to lift some heavy weights and really challenge yourself! While performing high rep sets (1. Here is a very vague overview of rep ranges: That is very superficial overview of rep ranges as there is a lot of crossover of adaptations between rep ranges. For example, many people grow lifting solely in the 1- 5 rep range and 1. But it gives you an idea of the weight you need to lift to grow; a weight that you can complete for at least 6 reps but not more than 1. Diet & Nutrition. Men and women do not need to train differently to see results, but what about diet? Should women eat differently than men? This may be one of the reasons women do well on lower carb diets. The main thing that needs to be adjusted is one. Women need fewer calories than men because men have more muscle mass and less fat (relative to total bodyweight) than women. The amount of protein, carbs, and fat will be dictated by the amount of calories one eats. We have shown that women do not need to train or diet much differently than men. Then why do we always see women in gym performing hours of cardio and lifting the lightest dumbbells in the gym for endless reps? This is most- likely due to not being informed, or even misinformed (by the media), about how women should train. One of the most common breakfast meals recommended to women is yogurt and a banana. Now there is nothing wrong with eating a yogurt and banana, but where is the protein and essential fatty acids? If you are a woman trying to gain lean muscle, you will need to eat adequate protein and good fats (essential fatty acids). It is time to stop listening to the media and misinformed individuals and time to become educated and get results. In this article, we will go over some basic diet and training information and then direct you to where YOU can get diet and training help and direction! Dieting for Women . Eating too many calories will lead to fat gain. Setting a target calorie intake and counting the amount of calories you eat each day is vital to losing fat and gaining lean muscle. Macronutrient Manipulation. While your total caloric intake is the most important diet factor, the ratio of protein to carbs to fat can dictate whether the weight you gain/lose is muscle or fat. A diet that contains 8. Stay Hydrated. You should drink plenty of water every day. Try to drink at least eight glasses (or 6. The benefits drinking water provides are optimal hydration as well as a feeling of . Sometimes people will mistake thirst for hunger. Because of this, staying hydrated can also prevent overeating. Quality Control. Choose fresh, wholesome foods over pre- packaged, processed foods. Packaged foods are loaded with preservatives, especially sodium and saturated fats, and often have high amounts of sugars, such as high fructose corn syrup. You will be amazed at how fast you can lose fat just by packing meals from home rather than purchasing fast food or packaged foods. You also will save a lot of money! Insulin Control. Insulin is the . When it is secreted fat burning is blunted. By controlling insulin secretion by choosing low GI carbs you can decrease fat gain/increase fat loss. Stable blood sugar levels also improve energy levels and ones mood. All of our diets as based around insulin control, leading to leaner muscle gains with little to no fat gain. Adequate Protein. In order to gain lean muscle you need to eat enough protein to sustain the creation of new muscle proteins. You may not be used to eating the amount of protein our prescribed diet recommends, but once you get into the groove you should not have any problems and will enjoy how full and satisfied you feel. Essential Fats. Essential fatty acids (EFAs) are vital to the proper functioning on your body. Dietary fats got a bad rap due to the diet fads of the 8. Eating fats does not equate to getting fat. In fact, most EFAs help support the fat burning process and maintaining a lean body. Do not be scared to eat good fats. EFAs are not the enemy. Also, be sure to supplement with a QUALITY EFA product, such as Scivation Essential FA. Women do not need to diet much differently than men. One metabolic difference between men and women is women burn a greater ratio of fat to carbs than men, which is the reason why women tend to do very well on a low carb diet. Due to this fact we recommend women follow a low- carb (not no carb) diet to lose fat and gain toned, lean muscle. Curve Appeal? And if they do lift weights the pick up a 5 pound dumbbell and do endless reps. As we have discussed, women need to lift heavy, challenging weights just like men in order to gain muscle. While machines do provide sufficient stimulation to gain muscle, nothing can beat free- weight/compound exercises. Now, we will go over a few free- weight and compound exercises that we will incorporate in the weight training presented. Deadlifts. Deadlifts are a full body exercise, meaning it stimulates just about every muscle in the body. Deadlifts hit the legs, back, traps, abs, obliques, etc. Deadlifts are a must for building a fully developed body. Free- weight barbell squats are a compound exercise that hits the entire upper leg, quadriceps, hamstrings, and glutes. Like deadlifts, if you don. These are a must for sexy, toned legs. Lunges. Lunges are great for targeting the glutes, hamstrings, and quadriceps. Lunges will help tighten up your legs and butt and give you the curves you want. Pull- Ups. Pull- ups work the muscles of the back, biceps, and forearms. Most gyms have an assisted pull- up machine, so if you cannot do pull- ups with your bodyweight, this machine will allow you to do pull- ups with less than your bodyweight. Dips. Dips work the muscles of the chest, shoulders, and triceps. Dips are a great exercise for overall upper body development, especially the shoulders and triceps. Most gyms have an assisted dip machine, so if you cannot do dips with your bodyweight, this machine will allow you to do dips with less than your bodyweight. For a visual demonstration of these exercises go to www. The 1. 2- Week Workout Program. As we said before, women need to lift heavy, challenging weights in order to gain muscle. Lifting heavy weights will not cause women to get big and bulky like men because women produce a fraction of the testosterone that men do. When women begin working out, their goals are to tone up and gain shape/curves and following this program will accomplish just that! In this 1. 2- week program, you will decrease the number of reps you complete and increase the load you lift as you progress. The number of sets per exercise stays the same, but the rep range changes. Weeks 1- 4. During weeks 1- 4, you will be lifting in the 8- 1. What this means is that you want to complete at least 8 reps but no more than 1. If you cannot complete 8 reps, then the weight is too heavy and you should decrease the load. If you can complete more than 1. Weeks 5- 8. During weeks 5- 8, you will be lifting in the 6- 8 rep range. What this means is that you want to complete at least 6 reps but no more than 8 reps for each set. If you cannot complete 6 reps, then the weight is too heavy and you should decrease the load. If you can complete more than 8 reps, then the weight is too light and you should increase the load. Weeks 9- 1. 2During weeks 9- 1. What this means is that you want to complete at least 4 reps but no more than 6 reps for each set. If you cannot complete 4 reps, then the weight is too heavy and you should decrease the load. If you can complete more than 6 reps, then the weight is too light and you should increase the load. This phase of the 1. Exercise Tips: Form Over Ego! We cannot stress enough how important it is to maintain strict form on all movements. This means stabilizing your body and contracting your abs so you isolate the primary intended muscles. For example, when doing a standing barbell curl, tighten your abs and do not rock or swing the weight. By tightening your abs, you stabilize your body and prevent momentum. This will also help condition your abs and save your lower back from injury. Warm- Up Properly. You should perform 1- 3 warm- ups sets before working a given muscle group. For example, I you are going to bench press 8. Rest, Don. This allows your body to recover some of its expended ATP but is not so long that you lose the flow of the workout. Remember, the goal is to get in and out of the weight room in 3. What if I Miss a Workout? If you miss a workout, simply work your schedule so you get back on track. Do not skip a workout!
